Old and New!

It was father's day today and I have waited on my hubby Andrew hand and foot! mmmmmm ;) I have finished adding the backing to the Coco-nutters (just thought on, not taken a picture of the back!) and started another postcard of the Bacup Crushing Circle, which was used for crushing ore and was rescued by the Bacup National History Society in 1979. Bacup has a history of mills, quarries and mining and was called smokey Bacup due to all the mills. By 1880 there were 67 cotton and woolen mills in Bacup. Men, women, boys and girls worked in the mills, mines and quarries around Bacup. The hot air caused sickness like tuberculosis, cancer of the mouth and lung disease. The rich got richer and the poor got sick!
