Tête de Boeuf Stitch

Here's another of my stitch tutorials this time a filling stitch that can be worked on either evenweave or plain weave fabrics. It can be scattered evenly or randomly. Tete-de-boeuf stitch can also be used as a single motif stitch to represent tiny buds. It is a really easy attractive stitch and is formed by working a detached chain stitch and two straight stitches.

Ok, to work Tete-de-boeuf stitch you first need to work a detached chain stitch. Then bring your needle up at 1, down at 2 and up at 3. Take your needle down at 4 to complete the stitch. Repeat the stitch as required. Try using different thicknesses of thread or two colours in the needle. You could also produce the detached chain stitch in one colour and the straight stitches in another colour for different effects!
